FAQs

I'm concerned I may have bed bugs. What products should I order?

Because bed bugs are a tenacious pest, we do recommend that you call a Pest Control Professional first to ensure you undertake an effective, integrated treatment plan. They will give you specific instructions along with a treatment plan and will usually recommend that you purchase a bed bug certified mattress encasement (like our "Ultimate" or "Superior") and box spring encasement (like our "Stretch Knit Box Spring Encasement") to quarantine each of the affected mattresses and box springs in your home.

Because the encasements must remain in place for 12-18 months, we recommend that you purchase our unique "Duo Protection System" which adds a "Simplistic" overlay flat sheet mattress cover with corner anchor bands that fit over the top of the mattress encasement. This provides peace of mind from having a certified bed bug encasement in place, plus an additional layer of comfort that can easily be removed and laundered routinely. You should purchase only products that have been "certified" for bed bug protection and have testing results available for your review.

What is the difference between the Ultimate and the Superior since they are both Bed Bug Certified?

Ultimate Mattress Encasement

The "Ultimate" offers 6-sided waterproof and bed bug "bite-proof" protection and is available in specific depths to match the depth of your mattress: 5" - 9", 9" - 15", 16" - 22". If your mattress does NOT have a pillow-top construction, warranty maintenance instructions may require you to both rotate and flip your mattress routinely - this can be accomplished with the Ultimate Mattress Protector while remaining in quarantine.

Superior Mattress Encasement

The "Superior" fully encases your mattress and provides waterproof and bite-proof protection on the top and along the side panels. A stretch knit fabric is used along the bottom of the side panels and across the underside of the mattress allowing for penetration-and-escape proof protection and stretches to fit mattresses 5" - 9", 9" - 15", and 16" - 22" in depth. If your mattress has a pillow-top construction, warranty maintenance instructions will include rotating, but not flipping your mattress periodically thus allowing for the option of the Superior.

Whether you choose the "Ultimate" or the "Superior" mattress encasements, we recommend encasing your box spring with the Stretch Knit Box Spring encasement and your pillows with the PillowSafe® protectors for complete protection and peace of mind throughout your bed bug treatment(s) and mattress quarantine period.

What benefits does the "Duo" Protection System offer for controlling dust mites and/or bed bugs?

The "Duo Protection System" is part of an innovative treatment plan for controlling dust mites or bed bugs. The "Duo Protection System" includes the "Superior" or "Ultimate" style total mattress encasement plus a removable Simplistic overlay. The "Simplistic Overlay" is a flat sheet protector with corner anchor bands and provides easy removal for washing, while allowing the encasement to remain on the mattress. This is very important when treating for bed bugs since an infested mattress must remain encased for 12 - 18 months. Furthermore, when using a mattress encasement for dust mite control, the "Simplistic" Overlay protects the Ultimate/Superior encasement from stains, providing a level of convenience for laundering.

How can the Classic fitted sheet style help in dust mite control, when it is not a total encasement?

"The Classic" fitted sheet style provides an easy maintenance option as an allergen barrier. It's pore size of less than 0.01 microns on the top and .5 microns on the sides of the mattress provides a layer of protection that is impermeable to dust mites (250 - 300 microns) and their allergen (10 microns), keeping you from inhaling dust mite allergen on the surface of your mattress that become airborne from your body's movement in bed. Weekly vacuuming or wiping the "Classic" surface clean with a damp cloth can help to further remove dust mites that accumulate.

The "Classic" can also be used on top of a full encasement such as the "Ultimate" or the "Superior", and can be removed for easy care and laundering without removing the underlying encasement.

How can the Sofcover® fabric be waterproof and yet breathable?

Our Sofcover® fabric incorporates a hydrophilic surface that allows smaller heat and vapor molecules to pass through, but prevents the passage of larger water molecules. This means a leak or spill would not pass through to your mattress, but the fabric wicks away the moisture on your skin to keep you dry and comfortable as you rest or sleep on the Sofcover® mattress protector.

Does the Sofcover® fabric make those annoying "crinkle" noises?

Absolutely not. Our Sofcover® fabric is smooth and soft to the touch. The waterproof barrier is very lightweight and stretched with the fabric. You will not hear any annoying "crinkles" while you are moving around in bed.

After I purchase a mattress protector, what other products can help me get a good night's sleep?

Our PillowSafe® pillow protectors will afford you hygienic comfort plus waterproof and non-allergenic features. Our "Stretch Knit Box Spring Encasement" will provide an additional barrier to dust mites, bed bugs, mold and mildew. If you travel for business or pleasure, our "Travel Kit" packs easily and will ensure your comfort and peace of mind when dealing with the common concerns of hotel occupancy.
